Finally some cute cities! Oh, what have I missed that. As great as the Unites States are, they are definitely missing on some cute “downtown” spots, to just have a coffee or a piece of cake. In Germany it is just so normal to dive into the old buildings, castles and what not, sit down and just take a little coffee break. Well, Phoenix definitely comes closest to that, from what we’ve seen so far. I guess you can never really find old buildings, but Phoenix had lots of Cafes and restaurants in a different style, than the big chains, which I really love to explore. 

Tucson seemed to be similar to that, but not as “popular”. I mean it doesn’t really seem like anybody ever gets out of the car for anything, besides food (only if they have to!), so Tucson comes pretty close to a “walking-city”. They also have public trains, which we haven’t seen in forever, and that was nice. 

After rambling so much, I still find it pretty impressive, that the nature is just right next to the city. This is something really unique about the US I think, because I have never stood in the center of the city and was able to see a surrounding of mountains and everything that comes with it. 

Die Städte in Arizona 

Endlich „richtige Städte!! Nein wirklich, sowohl in Phoenix als auch Tucson, kann man sich sehr schön in ein Café oder auch Restaurant setzen und die „Altstadt“ genießen. Vergleichbar mit Deutschland ist es natürlich nicht, weil es keine alten Gebäude gibt und das „Feeling“ einfach ein anderes ist, aber es kommt schon verdammt nah ran! Das vermissen wir auch tatsächlich sehr, sich einfach mal in ein schönes Café zu setzen und die Ruhe zu genießen. Selbst die Fußgängerzonen (wenn es dann mal welche sind), haben kein richtiges Café und man wird in der Regel komisch angeguckt, wenn man nichts zu essen bestellt. Da merkt man wieder, dass man manchmal erst Reisen muss um zu realisieren was man an Deutschland alles hat, bzw. was es dort und nirgendwo anders gibt. Oder einfach in USA nicht. 

Hier gab es sogar öffentliche Verkehrsmittel, was wir hier auch wirklich bisher selten gesehen habe. Busse sind schon mal öfter, aber Straßenbahnen mehr oder weniger nie zu sehen. 

Also mein Fazit, Arizona ist definitiv eine Reise wert (auch wenn ihr euch den nächsten Blog Post durch lest) und wenn ihr nur Zeit für eine Stadt habt, dann Phoenix. Trotz allem ist aber nicht zu vergessen, dass die Städte trotzdem meistens keine richtige Historie haben.
