Why „Tatu“?
This is probably the most asked question ever, so I’ll get to that first.
There isn’t too much behind it, but as you know, my camper used to be an ambulance. Long story short: ambulance cars in Germany make the noise *tatütata*
The short cut of that was *tatü* and since the „ü“ isn’t available in most countries and many people don’t know how to pronounce it, we thought that „tatu“ will do it’s job. ;D
At this point: Pros to my mom for having such a good idea.
From ambulance to camper
So as I said, my camper is an old ambulance, with its first registration in 1997! Yes it is actually older than me haha.
But we love each other and get along pretty well. 😉
And if not, you’ll probably read about it.
Luckily ambulances have insulated walls so we had nothing to do with that. Anyways, we (my family and I) did put a bunch of work in there as you can see in the transformation pictures on the site „My Tinyhouse“.

Warum „Tatu“?
Die wahrscheinlich am häufigsten gestellte Frage…
Es ist einfacher als man es sich denkt. Wie ist wisst, ist der Wagen ein alter Krankenwagen ist und hat mal die Geräusche *tatütata* gemacht. 😉
Davon die Abkürzung war dann „tatü“, aber da ich auch in englisch schreibe und der Buchstabe „ü“ so überhaupt nicht international ist, und die meisten Leute es auch nicht aussprechen können, kamen wir auf die Idee es einfach auf „Tatu“ zu ändern. Es halt also nichts mit einem Tattoo oder oder zu tun, wie man vielleicht am Anfang denkt.
An dieser Stelle noch einmal: DANKE MAMA! Es war nämlich eigentlich ihre Idee. 😉
Vom Krankenwagen zum Camper
Wie ihr wisst, ist mein Wagen ein alter Kranwagen und bekam seine Erstzulassung bereits 1997 und ist somit noch älter als ich.
Glücklicherweise sind die Wände von Krankenwagen bereits isoliert, also konnten wir uns diese Arbeit sparen. Was nicht heißen soll, dass wir nicht trotzdem lange beschäftigt waren.
Dass der Aufbau ein Kasten ist, hat natürlich einige Vorteile… Trotzdem ist nicht zu vergessen, dass man absolut nicht mit einer Wasserwaage arbeiten kann, weil alles schief ist, aber gerade aussehen soll. Ihr könnt alle Bilder unter dem Reiter „My Tinyhouse“ sehen.
Kleine Notiz am Rande: Wir machen das nicht beruflich oder oder. 😉
