We simply want to thank each and everyone of you, for your support and love you show towards us. We‘re just at the beginning of our Journey and we love to see how many of you are following along…

Getting to San Francisco was: FOGGY haha. That was definetly our first impression. We got there on the 13th, spend one night close to the airport, picked up my families camper and surprised them with it at the airport. By the way, this thing is HUGE… and made Marvin realize he doesn‘t want that big of a camper anymore. He always talked about something bigger than this, where you don‘t transition the bed anymore, but after driving it (he used to be a professional truck driver) we agreed, that a smaller van seems to make our life (especially out of the US) a lot easier.

In San Francisco we mainly did tourist things, like the Golden Gate Bridge, the Cable Cars, Twin Peaks, the Upper Market, Fort Baker and Carmel Beach. Since my family is only here for three weeks, we didn‘t jump into the local acitivities too much. For us, it definetly had a HUGE spanish touch. You can see all the pictures below. 🙂

We also went to a game of the SF49ers, which was super cool!

Driving to LA, we were all expecting something „fancy“ since it is the place to be for the STARS and famiur people. For us it turned iut, that Ragged Point (the sea elephant beach) was way more exciting. Unfortunately we did get there when the sun was already mostly gone and we couldn‘t see them by daylight. You can see a video below with the funny noises they make.

Getting into LA, we were almost disappointed. Even though we got to spend the night right by the beach, we expected something more fancy. So did we about Malibu. Of course there are ginormous neighborhoods, and houses and it is super cool to see that, but for us, it is simply not a place that we enjoyed too much.

Once again, we didn‘t have enough time to explore the locals life, so it might just take a second visit too see some different views and get to know the locals and what they enjoy to do.

Now we‘re off to see the Joshua Tree Park and the Grand Canyon. Expect us to be offline for a couple of days. 😉

At this point, we also want to say THANK YOU for all the cookies, that we pretty much inhaled.

After we left Upstate New York, we went down to Manhattan to see the Thanksgiving Parade, which was super cool! One night before it started a police officer told us we had to be on the streets by 3am in order to be in the front row before Macy‘s. Even though I am up for a lot of early mornings, we decided no. We got out of the car at 8am, when the streets, were still, not even close to crowded. We went to Macy‘s where it turns out to only be accessible to people with tickets. THANKS police officer! Good thing we didn‘t get up at 3am 😀 Our original plan was to watch it out of our bed or the top of the car, but the police didn‘t think that‘s fun and decided to keep telling us we need to move the car. At the end we just watched it like any other „tourist“ haha. When people ask me if it‘s fun, I have to say „Yes“ simply because it is an experience. Either way you do stand there for the longest time ever and the groups are pulled apart very far, probably so they don‘t have to wait so long in front of the Macy‘s buidling. But that‘s just a guess.

After staying in Manhattan for quiet some time again, we actually took the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty and went up the One World Observatory, which was pretty cool. Meaning this time we were tourists. 😀

Once we left Manhattan, we visited our friends in Pennsylvania and took some time to relax again. They live in the middle of pure nature and it is dimply beautiful to spend some time with them and at their house… if only April would understand nothing was that bad, that she had to bark as much as she did haha.

Saturday, December 1st the ride started. We took off to go to Wichita, Kansas, because my parents are visiting us in San Francisco and we had the choice to either go above Kansas or below and we said we‘d take some time off and visit all my friends and hostfamily and that was really fun!

That also seemed like enough time off. We‘re on our way to San Francisco now, where my family is arriving. We do have quiet a few miles / kilometers to go, but right now we‘e driving throzgh the Rocky Mountains, and that is absolutely besutiful! When I was an exchange student I remember skiing in Colorado, but I am not too sure if we went to the Rocky Mountains.

We‘re planning to be in California tomorrow evening and then we‘re excited to welcome my family there. <3

San Francisco we‘re on our way!!!

As you might notice from the caption, this week we mainly spent at the Walmart parking lot haha. We came back from Canada and have just been working. It is getting super cold here, today is freezing and snow is everywhere, but we stay cozy in the camper.

The only new thing: WE STARTED RUNNING AND ENROLLED IN A GYM.

Since we liked running together so much we thought why not go to the GYM together, and we still love it. Today was our forst actual workout together there, and it was super fun! I’ll keep you updated on that. 😉

Walmart Parkplätze sind super

Wie der Titel schon sagt, dreht sich diese Woche alles um Walmart Parkplätze haha. Nein, Spaß beiseite, wir sind einfach die ganze Woche auf dem gleichen Parkplatz gewesen und haben relativ viel gearbeitet und die Camper Garage nochmal ausgemistet, deshalb gibt es eigentlich nichts allzu spannendes zu erzählen…

Außer: Dass wir zusammen angefangen haben zu laufen und uns in einem Fitnessstudio angemeldet haben, weil uns das gemeinsame Laufen so viel Spaß gemacht hat. Auch mit April war das einfach jedes mal super super schön. 🙂 Heut war aber erst das erste richtige Workout, von daher halte ich euch mal auf dem Laufenden über die kommende Zeit. Wir können auf jeden Fall fristlos kündigen. Wenn ich mir meinen bisherigen Fitnessstudio-Werdegang so anschaue ist das wohl auch der wichtigste Punkt im ganzen Vertrag. 😀

So 7 days ago we drove up to the Niagara falls, after enjoying a turkish dinner with locals in Albany the night night before We decided not to drive all the way during the night, because you can’t see the beautiful landscape and we were not in a rush either way.

To sum up the Niagara falls: ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING

Both sides were pretty, of course you can get a better overview from the Canadian side, but it is definetly worth a visit from both sides. Instead of just seeing the falls, we visited Toronto as well and it was the most beautiful city, I have visited since we’re on this Journey, in my opinion. We spent 6 days in Toronto and took advantage of a really beautiful parking spot at night, right by the water.

Niagara Wasserfälle & Toronto

Vor 7 Tagen haben wir einen wunderschönen Ort in den USA besichtigt: die Niagara Wasserfälle. Sie waren für uns wirklich von beiden Seiten (USA & Kanda) sehenswert. Auf der kanadischen Seite hat man zwar einen schöneren „Überblick“, dafür wird man aber klitsch nass. Es ist trotzdem ein so wahnsinnig ergreifender Ort, allein schon wegen der Wassermassen, dass sich ein Trip dorthin einfach lohnt.

Wenn ich so zurückblicke, waren das aber insgesamt mit die schönsten Tage hier, da mir auch Toronto super super gut gefallen hat. Die Hochhäuser aus Glas, die alten Gebäude mittendrinnen, die Malls und einzelnen Stadtteile. Da hat für mich einfach alles gestimmt. Ganz egal ob bei Tag oder Nacht. Ich habe es mir nur wesentlich ruhiger und nicht so überlaufen vorgestellt. Aber es ist eben auch eine Großstadt. 😉 Der Weg dorthin mit dem Auto war auch wunderschön, denn man kann mit dem Auto ganz nah am Wasser entlang fahren und einige wunderschöne Häuser betrachten. 😉

Absolutely stunning! To say the least…

We’ve actually spent a week here and found a new “the most beautiful place” everyday. 😀

Before we drove up here, Marvin asked me “Do you really want to go there?” And I said “YES!”. Once we got here, he thanked me for “really wanting to go here”. 😉

For everyone that doesn’t know, Marvin and I made a list of things we want to see while we are here. We never planned a route or anything like that, and even switched to the complete opposite direction a day before we started driving… so yes we are spontaneous 😀

Looking back now, it was the best decision! We are completely off the tourist route, because it’s already off season up north here, and that’s just perfect for us!

Besides that every campground but one is closed, but we have everything and more than we need, by spending our nights at a Walmart parking lot.

ON Tuesday we figured out there is an RV parking lot and a Park & Ride, but we went back to Walmart, because we didn’t know if we were going to head further north the next day.

We also drove up Cadillac hill and took our first pictures all together with Tatu, which was super fun! I put some below, so you can enjoy them and I don’t have to make this blogpost super long for you to see the beauty of Acadia.

(Once I am in the mood to do so, I’ll redesign my blog and add galleries, where you will hopefully be able to click on the pictures to make them bigger. Until then, you’ll have to open a new tab to see it bigger.)

Einfach nur der Wahnsinn! Beschreibt es zwar nur kurz, aber ziemlich auf den Punkt…

Wir waren ingesamt nur eine Woche hier und jeder einzelne Tag hat sich total gelohnt! Ganz egal ob wir ganz alleine direkt an den Felsen geparkt haben, oder alles besichtigt haben, wir haben jeden Tag aufs neue einen wunder wunderschönen Ort erleben dürfen.

Wir sind auch tatsächlich zur perfekten Zeit hier, denn der Indian Summer zeigt sich in voller Pracht, die Touristen sind schon wieder abgereist und das Wetter ist herrlich.

Als wir noch in New Hampshire waren, hat Marvin mich gefragt ob ich wirklich hier hin fahren möchte (da es relativ weit nördlich ist und er am liebsten schon gestern alles gesehen hätte ;-)). Als wir ankamen, hat er sich bedankt, dass ich UNBEDINGT hier hin wollte. 😀

Da Marvin und ich eine Liste erstellt haben mit Orten, die wir gerne sehen wollen und ich diese Liste noch ein par mal überarbeitet habe, wusste ich, dass es sich sicher lohnen würde. Vor allem habe ich schon die Denke, dass wir wirklich einfach alle Zeit der Welt haben…

So richtig kann man das garnicht in Worte fassen, was wir hier alles zu sehen bekommen, deshalb hänge ich einfach ein par Bilder unten ran, damit ihr euch selbst ein „Bild“ machen könnt.

Wir haben auch unsere ersten “Wir-sind-komplett-Bilder“ gemacht, als wir auf dem Cadillac Mountain waren, die findet ihr auch unten. 😉

So on Sunday Marvin and April got here. I was standing at the airport still waiting for them to come outside and tearing up. I kept on telling myself STOP NOBODY’S EVEN HERE YET, YOU’RE EMBARASSING 😀 !

If JFK wouldn’t be as hectic we would’ve spend way more time hugging but in that case, I just got the dog out of the bag, and got lots of wet kisses on the way out.

Mom left that night, so we got food and went back to the airport, before we actually went to the campground, which used to be a US military station / airport and therefore is super big, which is kinda cool.

Monday we just kinda spent unpacking everything and I took Marvin to NYC, because we said we want to explore the nature a little more before we jump into a hectic city. April already had a stressful time, since she moved so much, and I just wanted her to be able to relax.

So this afternoon we left for Conneticut, where we are right now. I can’t wait to finally jump into „nature nature“.

Wir sind komplett!

Am Sonntag Mittag sind Marvin und April am JFK gelandet. Nachdem ich viele viele Welpenküsse und -umarmungen bekommen habe sind wir mit Mama zusammen, Essen gegangen. Man bemerke: Jeder in einem anderen Laden 😀 Abends war es dann auch schon Zeit, Abschied von Mama zu nehmen, wofür wir nochmals zum JFK Flughafen gefahren sind. Meine Güte ist das ein hektischer Flughafen!

Am Montag haben wir es recht entspannt angehen lassen, alle Koffer ausgepackt und das Auto soweit fertig gerichtet. Abends sind wir dann nochmal nach New York City reingefahren, da wir beschlossen haben, dass wir uns New York später nochmal „richtig“ anschauen und jetzt erstmal aus der Stadt rausfahren um zu entspannen. Gerade für April war die letzte Zeit doch relativ stressig und jetzt ist auch einfach etwas Zeit für uns angesagt. 😉

Am Dienstag Nachmittag sind wir dann nach etwas Trödelei auch endlich auf die Straße gekommen und nach Conneticut hochgefahren, wo wir nun übernachten. Morgen geht es dann hoffentlich etwas tiefer in die Landschaft.

Der Campingplatz auf dem wir von Sonntag bis Dienstag übernachtet haben ist ein altes Militärgelände und dadurch riesig aber irgendwie auch total cool, weil die Stellplätze total beschränkt sind.

It really seems like such a long distance, but we drove all the way down to Pennsylvania in just two days. We figured that we would rather have more time in New York City, than spending it on the road and having to hurry in the end.

The morning of October 2nd we crossed the border at around 12:30am to talk to some really confused customers of custom. After they checked and asked just the same questions as they did when I went and got my visa, we were good to go. We spent the day at a random parking lot in front of a Motel and next to a burger king (this way you have a bathroom in the morning, which helps a lot haha). The next morning – gues what – the car wouldn‘t start again. This time my mom forgot to turn off the light though haha. After we asked a couple of people we finally found someone who had jumper cables and helped us out. We drove to Saylorsburgh, to visit a friend of my mom, who she met over 30 years ago, when she was an aupair. We had a beautiful time there. Roy, Britta, Alexa or Brianca, if you‘re reading this: You are so loving and we loved staying at your house! We even fixed stuff in the car, because they have just like a garage full of tools. EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED haha. We filled up the water tank, fixed the garage and tried out if everything (besides the heater) works. And it did! The water tank though is made to lay down and I have to have it stand up and the fastening of the cleaning hole is not completly waterproof. So we have to go and get some silicone and thicken it up.

Fridaymorning we drive over to New York City and spent the last day over there. One night on a Mc Donalds parking lot and the other night right next to Ground Zero.

Sunday night it was time to say goodbye to my mom. Well actually it is not a goodbye either, but a see you later. I am completly sure to see them on Christmas, which made the last hug a lot easier!!

Now it‘s time to enjoy the time with Marvin and spend as much time as I can with April. She was apparently really good on her flight abd I got A LOT of kisses when I got to hold her again.

We‘re going to spend the next two nights near Brooklyn, so Marvin can have a look at New York City as well.

01. Oktober – 07. Oktober

Was für eine Fahrt! Ich freue mich riesig auf nicht mehr so viel Autofahren! Das klingt zwar komisch da ich mehr oder weniger im Camper lebe, aber generell möchte ich ja keine 1000de von Kilometern in zwei Tagen fahren. Als wir nachts über die amerikanische Grenze gefahren sind haben die uns zwar ein bisschen schräg angeschaut aber das haben wir auch überlebt haha. Das ist schon witzig wie die alle nichts außer Amerika kennen, vorallem ist mein Deutsches Kennzeichen wohl seeeewhr irritierend. Und dass das Auto auf einem Schiff herkommt ist auch seeeeeeeehr verwunderlich. 😉 Naja, nach 2 Tagen Autofahren sknd wir dann in Saylorsburgh bei Mamas Freundin und Familie angekommen. Eine super nette Familie, bei denen wir wirklich drei wunderschöne Tage genießen durften. Ganz liebe Grüße falls ihr das gerade lest 😉

Freitag morgen sind wir dann Richtung New York gefahren um uns zwei Tage lang New York City anzuschauen.

Am Sonntag war es dann Zeit mich von Mama zu verabschieden. Nebennotiz: Den JFK Flughafen gibt es auch nur einmal. Ich war den Tränen super nah, aber letztendlich bin ich ganz fest davon überzeugt, dass wir uns Weihnachten sehen und das ist schließlich schon in zwei Monaten.

Jetzt heißt es Zeit mit Marvin zu genießen und so viel wie es geht mit April zu spielen.

Because of a friend of mine, that asked me to please sum up my latest travel, I decided to write a blog post about it. So here are the last stops of ours until my mom flew out from JFK (New York) today.

• One week in Memphis, Tennessee and Batesville, Arkansas for business 
• 10 days in Wichita Kansas to see my host family and friends 
• 2 days in Halifax Canada to pick up Tatu
• 6 days with Tatu everywhere from Halifax, Canada to New York City, New York 

I hope that takes the confusion away… 😉

Überblick

Letzte Woche wurde ich von einem Bekanntem angesprochen, der sehr verwirrt war, was unsere Reisepläne angeht. Deshalb schreibe ich diesen Post, um nochmal zusammenzufassen was Mama und ich alles erlebt haben, bis sie heute aus New York City ausgeflogen ist. 

• Eine Woche in Memphis, Tennessee und Batesville, Arkansas (Anerkennungsreise unserer “Arbeit”)
• 10 Tage in Wichita, Kansas bei meiner Gastfamilie und Freunden 
• 2 Tage in Halifax, Kanda um Tatu abzuholen 
• 6 Tage mit Tatu, überall von Halifax, Kanada nach New York City, New York 😉 

Ich hoffe das nimmt allen die Verwirrung 😉 Und wenn nicht… einfach schreiben 😉 

Today was the day we picked up Tatu from the harbour! We had to be at the spedition at 08:30am, then drive up to custom, to finally make it to the harbour. Everything worked out so well! I was super nervous to open the doors, because I didn‘t know what to expect. A MESS?! I just kept on thinking „Please don‘t let everything be completly ruined“. So I opened the door and whoopwhoop, EVERYTHING is still in the place it used to be like. Not one thing fell out or moved places. The only thing: My kitchen light was on. 😀 Well, when we got the paperwork done, we wanted to start the car, but the battery was completly out! We got jump started, which took a while, because it kept on shutting down, but once it was good we were good to go! What a feeling, finally having my car back!!!

We went back to the air bnb to get all of our stuff in (motor still running – they must‘ce thhought we‘re crazy) and hit the road richt after.

Next stop: Blairstown, NJ

Wilkommen in Halifax

Heute haben wir Tatu endlich vom Hafen abgeholt! Nachdem wir um 08:30 Uhr bei der Spedition waren, ging es danach zum Zoll und im Anschluss endlich zum Hafen. Wir wurden vorgewarnt, dass sich das ganze Procedere bis zu 3h ziehen kann, aber wir waren überall nach 10 Minuten wieder raus…. hätten wir nicht unsere Reisepässe vergessen. Also ging es vom Zoll nochmal zum AirBNB und dann wieder zum Zoll um dann endlich in den Hafen reinzufahren.

Ich war so nervös die Autotür aufzumachen und das Innenleben zu sehen. Eigentlich war ich recht positiv, dass nichts kaputt geht, aber irgendwie macht einem das Umfeld dann doch bedenken. Ich dachte solange wenigstens die Hängeschränke hängen und das Holz am rechten Fleck ist, sollte alles gut sein. Und dann mache ich die Türen auf und… ALLES NOCH GENAU DA WO ES SEIN SOLL. Nur das Küchenlicht war an, aber da gibt es schlimmeres. 😀

Das einzige: Als ich versucht habe das Auto zu starten war sie Batterie mehr als leer haha. Das hat also noch ein bisschen gedauert, aber dann war es auch wieder gut.

Im Anschluss sind wir dann zum AirBNB zurück, um alle Koffer einzupacken und die letzten Dinge noch zu erledige und dann ging es auch Richtung New York.

Nächstes Ziel: Blairstown, New Jersey
